How a golf simulator night works

A simulator night at the casino on George St has a simple order, from the phone call to the last hole. Here it is step by step, the way a friend in Sydney, Nova Scotia would walk you through it before your foursome heads out.

The night, in order

  1. Call 902-563-7703 to reserve a bay, up to one month in advance. For a group or corporate event the number is 902-563-7794, and the rate is quoted when you book.
  2. Check that whoever is coming is 19 or older. That rule covers entry to the casino and the golf simulators alike.
  3. Get there by your start time. A booking is released if the players have not arrived 15 minutes after it.
  4. Play for at least 1 hour, the minimum booking. Clubs are provided in-house, and the system has over 200 courses to choose from.
  5. If your group wants a little longer, ask for a 30-minute extension. It can be added when the bay is free.

Bay 1 and Bay 2

The simulators are Golfzon systems in two bays, Bay 1 and Bay 2. Each bay takes up to 6 golfers, so your foursome fits with room for two more. The system has over 200 courses, which gives your group plenty to pick from before the first tee.

Clubs are provided in-house, so nobody needs to bring a bag. These bays are only at the Sydney casino, and Halifax has none. A golf night here needs no gambling at all.

Food and drinks around the round

For food there is Celtic Junction Bar & Grille, with a full menu, and drinks are served during regular business hours. Neither those hours nor the room's place in the building is published, so ring the casino at 902-563-7777 if timing matters for your group. Anyone who appears to be under 30 must show valid government photo ID to be served alcohol, so bring yours.

Member pricing on food is one of the listed Player's Club benefits, and the casino says benefits depend on play. The club is free, and joining takes valid government-issued photo ID, a short application and being 19 or older.

Before you tee off

Should your foursome bring its own clubs?
Nobody needs to pack a set, because clubs are provided in-house at both bays. Your group can arrive empty-handed and pick from over 200 courses.
What if your group runs more than 15 minutes late?
A booking is released if the players have not arrived 15 minutes after the start time. Past that point the bay may be gone, so plan to arrive before your tee time.
Can a friend who just turned 19 play with you?
Yes, 19 is the minimum age for both the casino and the golf simulators. At the bar, anyone who appears to be under 30 must show valid government photo ID to be served alcohol.
